Our Mission

Our mission is to make sure every member of our East community can access essential resources with dignity, respect, and as few barriers as possible.

No child should go without food, warm clothing, or the basic necessities that allow them to feel safe, included, and ready to learn.

Supported by East Angel Foundation and Other Generous Donors

How We Support East Students & Families

Everything we provide is made possible by donations and the generosity of the East community.

Monthly Family Pantry

Once a month, East families are invited to shop our pantry for fresh produce, meat, shelf-stable groceries, toiletries, household essentials, and other needed supplies.

Families of current East students (with valid student ID) and current East staff members are welcome.  Please enter into The Commons along the Detroit Street Entrance.

Food Support Throughout the Year

Students can access food from the pantry during the school day with help from East’s social workers and school nurse. We also provide grocery gift cards to students and families facing urgent needs throughout the year.

Friday Angel Packs

Every Friday, students can pick up pre-packaged bags of food to take home for the weekend—quickly and discreetly on their way out of school. All students are invited to stop at our tables to grab snack. This a fun, energetic end to the school week for all! Angel Packs is a student-run organization, so reach out if you’d like to get involved.

Holiday Support

At Thanksgiving, we provide families with boxes containing everything needed to prepare a Thanksgiving meal. In December, we distribute grocery gift cards to help families with food expenses and make the holidays a little easier.

Clothing Pantry

Our clothing pantry gives East students and staff access to clothing throughout the school year. In addition to everyday clothing, we work to keep coats and cold-weather gear available, along with suits, dresses, and other dressier clothing for school events and opportunities such as DECA and ConLaw. The clothing pantry and twice a year East Thrift Event are managed by student-run East Thrift Club.

We are powered by donors and volunteers

Help Us Keep the Pantry Going

Our pantry is fully funded by donations and the East community, and volunteers make our work possible. We are always grateful to welcome new volunteers and donations.  Every donation, every gift card, and every hour volunteered helps us make sure an East student or family has somewhere to turn when they need a little extra support.

Gift Cards

Grocery and other needed gift cards can be delivered to Nurse Brian, whose office is just inside the school’s front entrance, or contact us to coordinate a pickup.

Monetary Donations

Tax-deductible monetary donations can be made through the East Angel Foundation and designated to support the East Angel Pantry.

Clothing Donations

Clothing can be delivered to Nurse Brian’s office or contact us to coordinate a pickup.

Volunteers

Volunteer opportunities include helping us pick up from Food Bank of the Rockies, supporting Family Pantry and Friday Angel Packs, and organizational roles.  Please contact us if you are interested.

we support everyone in our community

Our Community

East is a wonderfully diverse community, and that diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Our students and families come to school with different resources, circumstances, and challenges. Our pantry exists to help close some of those gaps—quietly, respectfully, and without judgment.

Through food, clothing, grocery assistance, and emergency support, we hope to do more than meet an immediate need.

We want to help build greater equity within our East community and make sure students and families know that when they need support, their community is here for them.

Nearly one-third of East students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, an important indicator of the number of students in our school community living in households with limited financial resources. Research links food insecurity with difficulties in concentration and attention, lower academic and cognitive performance, and other challenges that can interfere with a student’s ability to fully engage in school. Lack of food, appropriate clothing, toiletries, transportation, and other essentials can also create very practical barriers to simply getting through the school doors.

Meeting basic needs helps remove barriers to attendance, participation, learning, and belonging. When students have reliable access to food, clothing, toiletries, and other essentials, they have a stronger foundation from which to focus on what they came to school to do: learn, grow, connect, and succeed.

Our goal is not simply to provide food or supplies. It is to make resources easy to access, discreet, and available without judgment, allowing students and families to seek support while maintaining their dignity and independence.

Everything we do is rooted in a simple belief: community takes care of community, and every student deserves the support, resources, and sense of belonging that give them the foundation to thrive.
